Wyman’s automotive success story began in August 1953. In 1953 auto dealer Jim Wyman decided to expand his
longtime dealership, Wyman’s Sales & Service, in Keene, NH and along with son-in-law Jack Knight made the
commitment to open Wyman’s Chevrolet Co., Inc. in Hillsborough. With that commitment began family tradition,
now in its third generation, of automotive excellence based on respect for your customers, your employees and
your community, providing superior value and service each day and every day.
The road to success hasn’t been all down hill. In 1965 a tragic fire leveled the entire building on Main St.
wiping out 12 years of hard work, but committed to family, customers and employees, Jack pushed on. By dawn
Jack had a mobile office at the site of the still smoldering dealership with a “bob house” as a parts room,
a few tools and a limited inventory of Chevys, opened for business. From this challenge came an all new
facility “just down the road” on West Main Street.
In 1974 Jack Knight died. His wife Arlene and sons Jim and Chuck voted to accept the commitment and take on
the challenges of continuing the traditions of Wyman’s, while in the midst of recession and the oil embargo
of OPEC. With the help of Arlene’s dad, Jim Wyman and the loyalty of their employees and customers they
continued on the road of success, providing superior value and service to their customers.
With the improving economy of the ‘80s came growth in all departments and in order to continue to meet the
needs of their dealership in the spring of 1988. The facility first planned and built by Jack Knight 1966
was enlarged to over 30,000 sq. ft. with new showroom, offices, enlarged service area and all new heavy
duty truck repair facility. Also and entirely new state-of-the-art auto body shop was added as well as an
expanded parts department, all contributing to the image of "one stop for all your auto needs"
Wyman’s has grown to be known for. And in 1990 Wyman’s was pleased to add Pontiac to their line of
Chevrolet and Geos offering their customers even greater selection of models to choose from.
